How to cancel Gym Membership

These steps are a draft, not a checked walkthrough. We have not confirmed them against a live Gym Membership account, and companies rearrange cancellation flows often.

1. Check your contract for the required notice period before you do anything else.
2. Cancel in writing if the contract asks for it, and keep a copy.
3. Ask the gym to confirm in writing that the recurring charge has stopped.
4. Watch the next statement — gyms are the most common source of charges after cancellation.

Timing. Most gym contracts require notice, often 30 days, and some renew automatically if you miss the window.

Expect a counter-offer. Gyms routinely offer a freeze instead of a cancellation; a freeze usually still costs money.
